چکیده
Cysticercosis is an infection with the larval stage of Taenia solium. Infestation by Taenia solium is common in area where pig bredding is not controlled and sanitation is inadequate. Latin America, Southern Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Europe are the most frequent locations of occurrence. The larval form of cyst is commonly seen in the brain, meninges and eyes. The remainder are located in the muscles, heart, lungs and peritoneum. Cases in the maxillofacial region including oral and cheek muscles, are rarely reported.

A Classic Case of Subcutaneous Cysticercosis: A Rare Case with Sonological Findings and Review of Literature
BACKGROUND Cysticercosis is a parasitic infection caused by the larval stages of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium. The subcutaneous form of the disease is a relatively rare clinical entity. Despite its rarity, it is imperative for a radiologist to be aware of this subcutaneous form of the disease and its various radiological patterns while evaluating any subcutaneous swelling. In this paper, we...

Cysticercosis is a tissue infection, caused by cysticercus cellulosae, larval form of Taenia solium (Tapeworm). It occurs in humans due to ingestion of tapeworm eggs by contaminated uncooked food/water or through selfinfection via faeco-oral route. 1 It is a potentially dangerous systemic disease with predilection for skeletal muscle, central nervous system and subcutaneous tissue. Clinically, ...

The objective of this study is to document the value of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) in the diagnosis of subcutaneous cysticercosis. Aspirates smears of 10 cases of subcutaneous swellings were studied over a period of 1 year between January 2004 and January 2005. The subcutaneous swellings were presented at different sites like cheek, neck, forearm, arm, chest wall and abdominal wall....

INTRODUCTION Cysticercosis is the larval manifestation of the cestode T. solium. It commonly presents as subcutaneous and intramuscular nodules which is often clinically misinterpreted as benign mesenchymal lesions and lymph nodes. Cysticerci in subcutaneous nodules can be diagnosed rapidly and with considerable accuracy by FNAC. This study highlights the cytomorphological features of subcutane...

Sir, We read the article Subcutaneous nodules preceding convulsions due to neural cysticercosis by Singrodia et al.[1] They had rightly pointed out that the prerequisite for successful treatment of cysticercosis with anthelminthics is early diagnosis; however, they did excisional biopsy for the diagnosis. Here, we want to draw the kind attention to a very important non-invasive diagnostic tec...
